These lifestyle factors include a healthy diet, regular exercise, and not smoking. These findings reinforce public health recommendations about healthy living. The importance of making healthy choices cannot be overemphasized. People’s lifestyles often form during their formative years. Hence, young children should be taught about healthy living practices early on.

Studies have shown that people who drink alcohol increase their risk of developing several cancers, including pharynx, liver, and mouth. Alcohol also amplifies the effects of smoking on the upper respiratory and digestive tracts. Alcohol is also linked to violence and accidental injuries. Therefore, individuals who drink excessively should cut down on drinking and avoid binge drinking. Dietary changes should also include increasing consumption of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts, seeds, and extra virgin olive oil.
